"#17 Armando Valdivia passed away on November 30, 2012 after a long fight with ALS. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. My second fondest memory of the man was when he scored the 2001 World Indoor Soccer League Championship winning goal, in sudden death overtime of the tie-breaker mini-game at the San Diego Sports Arena.

My first fondest memory of him was, of course, what a genuinely nice guy he was at the Sidekicks' various season ticket holder, booster club, and community functions.
