While North America gets the honor of officially kicking off qualifying for World Cup 2014 Brazil, the Asian confederation begins soon thereafter with their preliminary round! This round features Asia's sixteen minnows playing a home-and-home tie on June 29 and July 3. These matchups are:

Malaysia (28) : Chinese Taipei (T-40)
Bangladesh (32) : Pakistan (36)
Cambodia (T-29) : Laos (T-42)
Sri Lanka (T-33) : Philippines (T-42)
Afghanistan (T-29) : Palestine (37)
Vietnam (T-33) : Macau (39)
Nepal (31) : Timor Leste (38)
Mongolia (35) : Myanmar (T-40)

These eight winners will join the #6 - #27 seeds, making 30 teams in 15 ties, on July 23 and 28. Those 15 winners will join the 5 Asian powers in the July 31 qualifying super-draw in Brazil.
