- George John
Caps: None
John is a big (6-3, 203 pounds), strong, central defender who routinely overpowers M.L.S. attackers and is eligible to play internationally for a second country (Greece). [He has been a mainstay] in the top 10 of the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], M.L.S.’s official performance-rating service. And [he has] been under-used by the U.S. national team.John, 24, made a splash this summer when [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] during the summer transfer period. The move fell apart during negotiations, but the interest from abroad raised John’s profile, and deservedly so. John has a polished and versatile game, as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] showcases. It would be great to see [George John playing alongside Omar Gonzalez] against Honduras and/or Ecuador — it is never too early to start developing backline chemistry.

| Is John's contract up at the end of this season or end of next season? We were trying to come up with a potential expansion draft protection list last night (and struggling to come up with 11 players, an indication of how badly Hyndman and Gorman have done with player acquisition this year), and couldn't decide if we just needed to Goodson him, given that he'll undoubtedly be gone over the winter. | |

Pretty certain it is up at the end of this season. The way the team is performing at present, I wouldn't protect anyone other than Brek, Hartman, Ugo, Loyd, Villar, and Jacobson.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Smells like a big contract offer to George... or am I just hoping FCD and GGeorge have come to an agreement?

| If this is true, this isn't the worst-case for FCD supporters... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Quote :
- The FC Dallas center back will soon be playing at Upton Park as part of West Ham. But it won’t be as part of a full transfer as previously believed. Not just yet, at any rate.
What’s less clear is what might happen from there. From what I understand, this is just a loan deal for now. And it’s just through February. For now. The back end is open, apparently. So John might be coming back to FC Dallas Stadium for a fourth campaign. Or he might be staying in "East, East, East" London.

- Defender George John has been loaned to English League Championship side West Ham United for two months, FC Dallas announced today. At the end of the two-month loan, West Ham will have the option to complete a full transfer for John. Per team and league policy, terms of the loan will not be disclosed.
"This is an opportunity for George to raise his play to another level," said head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He has the opportunity to spend time with a club rich in tradition, playing in one of the top leagues as they work to earn a promotion back to the Premiership. I have no doubt we will see an even better center back at the end of this period."

| What must it be like: You're in a bitch close game against Dallas, who are defending dogs-at-the-bowl and holding on, but you're the opposition coach getting a hard-on because you can see your team's possessing the ball and wearing down the Dallas back line. Then, late in the game when you just know that your side's going to score the equalizer, you look to your right and standing with the fourth official is a nicely rested George John. Yet that is not the ugly part. That is that John is not just rested, he's pissed because your team has been sending his mates to the turf all night long. | |
