The 2011 NBA Finals MVP is no stranger to FC Dallas. Nowitzki attended a CONCACAF Champions League match last fall at FC Dallas Stadium. Recently, he met up with FC Dallas’ Brek Shea after a Mavericks game with the two chatting and taking a moment to pose for a photo.
Lamar’s Tailgate starts 90 minutes before first kick (so 6:30 p.m. for June 23) on the North Concourse and features BBQ, street tacos and other food.
The culmination of the tailgate party is the scarfing ceremony of the Lamar Hunt statue. Fellow German and U.S. Men’s National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann was one of the scarfers earlier this season at an FC Dallas match.
