What's the spiel on stage seating for the 4th? And do I need to bring tools for robbing the red drum of a tuner or two? I'm ready to beat the snot out of a drum, so let's not incapacitate Red. It would be sad to not have at least both our group drums to beat shit out of a sellout crowd on the 4th of July. And Brenda, bring your personal rum-puh-pum-pum. If she hasn't moved, the little lady with the snare drum will be nice to bring her instrument.

All flags.

All drums.

All hands on deck!

I'm so effin' tired of losing that if I can't beat on a drum, I'll likely break m'fists on the rails.

And an answer on the seating, please, soon. If we're going to 121, I'll trick out our flags the way Andre and I discussed it: a red check under each of Little Tex and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce flags. The we'll tape 'em to those inert poles that are currently good for nothing else.

Fireworks are for wussies. Give me nasty supporters!

I need to change my avatar. In the book, both those dwarves die.

I sent a email to Kevin about ticks. and have not heard back from him. I will try to get a hold of him or Tom.

As for the drums, do you still have the rods that need to go back on them and the bolts so that we can get them on?

I have not seen the rods that are missing from the large drum. There were rods missing from the red drum that were found and subsequently reinstalled. Perhaps those rods were from the large drum. Whichever is the case, we need to find some rods, or settle for a balance of missing tuners between the two if the rods we have fit both. I think I put large drum rods on Red because three or four of them ended up noticeably longer than the others. Red is the drum that is likely missing its tuners.

Both drums are old enough to be extra work for finding parts. It's not a difficult issue to make the rods if we have to. You just need some steel rod, something to flatten one end, and a bit of work with oil and die to create threads on the other. Still, you have to want to find the missing stuff. It would be faster to just put them back on.

I'm kind of sorry to have done such a solid job on Red. He's just about unadjustable unless you have some 7/16ths tooling. You have to back off the lock nuts, tune with the free-running hardware, then lock in the setup by running the lockers back down. Still, I can all but guarantee you that you won't lose a rod accidentally as long as those Teflon locking inserts remain fresh. I couldn't back the things off with pliers the day of the Houston trip. You know how it is for we aircraft mechanics: people have to be safe riding our work six miles high, 600+ miles per hour in a couple of thousand ton jet loaded with kerosene. And add "safe every time."

It's a point not just of pride, but of love. ^_^

Right on. Will look into finding rods for them. As long as we know what tools we need to have so we can get the heads off when it time to change them out we should be good.
