World Cup Qualifying - CONCACAF

Believe it or not, qualifying for World Cup 2014 Brazil begins in less than two weeks! CONCACAF has the honors this time around, with seeds 26-35 meeting in a home-and-home tie on June 3 and 7. Match-ups are:

Montserrat (35) : Belize (26)
Anguilla (34) : Dominican Republic (27)
US Virgin Islands (33) : British Virgin Islands (28) - kind of a "Virgin Islands" version of the epic World Cup 2010 match!
Aruba (32) : St. Lucia (29)
Bahamas (31) : Turks & Caicos Islands (30)

Winners of the ties will be placed in Pot D for the July 31 qualification draw-fest from Brazil. They will join seeds 7 - 25 to be drawn into six 4-team groups in second round play. USA and 2 - 6 seeds receive byes to the semi-final round.

With a game to go in the second round of regional qualifying, Antigua and Barbuda (Spanish for ancient and bearded) clinched a spot in the next round with a 1-0 win over visiting Haiti in St. John’s, the capital of the two-island nation that lies southeast of Puerto Rico.

Jamaica and Guatemala, which also locked down a spot in the next round on Friday, will also be in the qualifying group with the United States.
